For many years, we have been hearing from our guests about their frustrating, annoying, and time consuming car rental experiences originating upon their arrival to Cancun’s airport. Typically, our guests experience the following:

•Their car reservation is not honored and there is no car available for them.

•There is a car available, but not the type or size they reserved.

•Long lines and extremely slow service in processing the rental.

•Having to deal with unfamiliar driving customs, directions, and conditions after a long flight.

•Possibly having to stop at the first gas station to fill up the tank (typically cars are rented with less than a quarter tank of gas.) This is again time consuming and a potentially confusing experience since you will be dealing in Mexican currency and liters as opposed to dollars and gallons.

•Flat tires or car problems (fairly frequent occurrences) could lead to further delays and frustrations not to mention dangerous highway situations.

•Making your way to Taninah on an unfamiliar highway in a foreign country can add stress to your trip.

•Upon your departure, you will have to leave with enough time to deal with returning your rental car (usually requiring you to leave up to an hour sooner than if you don’t rent a car.) Of course, unforeseen delays (car trouble, gas filling, lines upon returning your rental car, etc.) can also be stressful and cause serious delays.

We suggest the following alternative:

Since our rate includes transportation (please see our “Transportation” page for details) from Cancun International Airport to Taninah on the day of arrival and from Taninah back to Cancun International Airport on the day of departure, we suggest you skip renting a car in Cancun altogether.

Instead, let our transportation company meet you upon your arrival; help you with your luggage; and get you on the way to enjoying your vacation in comfortable, air conditioned vehicles with licensed, professional drivers who know the roads, customs, and exactly where Taninah is located.

Most of our guests don’t leave Taninah the day of their arrival, but rather enjoy spending the afternoon and evening exploring Taninah. In fact, many don’t leave the property until their second full day.

Regardless, any day you desire, we will arrange for Executive Car Rental, located in Puerto Aventuras just 10 minutes from Taninah, to pick you up, free of charge, and take you to their office so that you can rent a car in a non-stressful environment after a good night’s rest.

This option is beneficial in many ways:

•No waiting at the airport and dealing with one or more frustrating rental car companies.

•Our drivers will meet you at the arrival gate, handle your luggage, and help you to your private, air conditioned vehicle.

•Your driver will take you directly to Taninah without delays. No driving on unfamiliar highways, having to stop for gas, converting liters to gallons or dollars to pesos, or dealing with non-English speaking service station attendants.

•Any road problems on the way to Taninah will be dealt with by the driver and the transportation company quickly, efficiently, and safely. All drivers carry cellular phones and radios and can call for highway assistance if needed or in case of an emergency.

•Returning the rental car to Puerto Aventuras, the Executive staff will take you back to Taninah at no charge. Usually, this is done the night before your departure which simply makes your departure day much less stressful and allows you to stay at Taninah until the last possible minute. You won’t have to fill up the car, deal with possible highway troubles, or deal with returning a rental car at a busy international airport.

•On your departure day, the transportation service will pick you up at Taninah and get you to the airport without delays or stressful, time consuming events.

•Arrive at the airport relaxed and comfortable and ready to head back home.The number one negative comment we receive from guests is due to their often terrible experience dealing with car rental issues. This common complaint led us to find and offer a less stressful, more affordable, time saving and much more comfortable alternative.

Our sole intention is to make your entire vacation as pleasant and hassle free as possible. Although we are certain that your stay at Taninah will be wonderful and memorable, we would like to ensure that getting to and leaving Taninah are also pleasant experiences.
